Dax - Rear Tie Bars

Hi all,
quicki this one,

are the bars supposed to be fitted with any sort of washers at the wishbone end? infact either end?
I have preliminarily fitted them with none at the wishbone end but enough to make them a tight fit at the chasis end, is this right??

cheers

Ben

Hi Ben.
Don't forget to fit 2 spacers above and 2 spacers below the rose joint so that it runs true with the pivots on the side of the diff.

RE: Dax - Rear Tie Bars

That's it. The spacer washers.

The big pin that holds the wishbone to the diff runs parallel with the centre of the radius rod brackets, so the rose joint needs to be fitted in line with this, ie. the centre of its two brackets, therefore two washers either side of the rose joint will centralise it all.
8 washers in total per car.

RE: Dax - Rear Tie Bars

Hi Ben.
If it's in line it is less likely to cause un due wear in the bearings.

You could just leave them off altogether but you will end up with axle tramp if you start throwing big lumps of power through it. Don't take my word for it, speak to Gary at Dax, he's had years of experience with Hot Rods and the like that have beeen built with and without radius rods and from his experience he has found that Jag axles will wind up and tramp under extreme load. So take no notice of Rob and Russ they just like to stir things up around here.:P :P :P
