Header tank

Just fitted the header tank to my 351w but not sure where to connect the top outlet from the tank. On the chevy it connects up to the small outlet from the thermostat housing. Any ideas??

RE: Header tank

Hi mike,

On most production cars and i think kit cars you'll find the header or expansion tank connects to the radiator.

RE: Header tank

As you say on the Chevy it goes to the thermo housing, on any engine it will need to go as high as possible on the engine or the radiator this is because it's function is to bleed the air from the system into the header/ expansion tank.

RE: Header tank

Hi Mike.
Haqve you asked Dax if they can supply you with a stat housing with the outlet for the breather pipe? As one in the rad would be too low anyway, that's why they use a headder tank.

RE: Header tank

Hi guys do you think this set up would benefit from a bleed valve in the top hose?

RE: Header tank

Rocket
I've just re-designed my cooling system. With ally rad that has an air bleed at the top that goes via a swirl pot in the top hose to the top of the header/expansion tank mounted on the bulkhead. At half full, giving plenty of room for expansion, the water level is well above the themostat housing and heater. So no need for any bleed valves.See "Back on the road" thread for report on first run impressions.
