| RE: DAX Engine mount change Hello Howard, this would be a job for Dax or maybe Cheng at Thunderroad cars unless you've done chassis work like this before. I had my V12 chassis converted to Chevy V8, inc backbone brace, new steering rack/mounts, came to 600 quid a year or so ago at Dax. Personally I would stick with the Chevy option unless you have a very good reason not to. Chevy engine is easily tunable and ultimately cheaper than a Rover, although much heavier. Save the 600 quid on chassis mods and go for a 350 Chevy!!! Good luck whatever you decide to do. Ian. |

| RE: DAX Engine mount change Ian I already have the Rover V8 Vitesse EFI engine and gearbox which I am doing up now, to be honest I can't see the difficulty in the engine mounting job, but I am prepared to be shot down if someone knows better. I was thinking of fitting the mountings to the engine and lowering the engine into position, with the gearbox fitted to give correct allignment and then welding the mounting brackets in place. Does anyone think is a good idea or a bad idea, always prepared to listen to good advice. Cheers Howard

| RE: DAX Engine mount change Howard, I may be wrong but I believe the Chevy mounts on the Dax chassis are different from the Rover ones. If so you'll need to get the Rover ones from Dax. I think your method would work, might be worth looking at another Rover-based Dax for dimensions/relative positions etc. for a bit of reassurance. The Dax cars have the engines a helluva long way back as you know. Might be worth fitting all of the front engine ancillaries to make sure you have enough clearance (especially the crank pulley.) Hope it works out OK. Ian. |

| RE: DAX Engine mount change Hi Howard, depending where bouts you are, you are welcome to come and take a look/measure up from my chasis (RV8 mounts)...(you may even be able to pursuade me to measure for you, although Im not the best in the world at that :P Im planning to go the other way in that I will be swapping for a 351w after I have it on the road......
