Does anyone have noice levels for a dax with a 350 in it? We have restrictions here in sweden for 84dB. Would it pass?

RE: Dax noice level with 350 chevy

Hi Carl, Welcome to the mad house.
if you use Daxes side pipes, even with a stock 350 I doubt you'll be as low as 84dB.
At what speed and distance do they test in Sweden?
For the SVA in the UK it's close to the exhaust outlet at 2/3 max power revs (i think.)
My 383 came in at 100.8 dB our limit is 101 dB.
Dave Brookes should be able to tell you what the Dax will give with a stock 350, he's built and tested heaps of them.

RE: Dax noice level with 350 chevy

Carl,

you need to define the test procedure - it may not be the same as ours - therefore our 'levels' would not help you much. Standard test here is 45degrees from outlet @ 0.5M distance, no load @ 2/3 max engine speed (or 3/4 max power speed).

If it's the same test as ours, you're going to need alot of silencer volume.

Russ

The best i got from a std Chevy with Daxes sidepipes was 94.6dB at 3000RPM i think.
That's a hell of a long way off 84dB.
From what i can remember the dB meter was showing 70+dB before the engine was even started.

I will have to find out. I am not sure how it is tested, but I suspect it is way different. Some guy over here got his tested at 82 dB (not a dax though). might be at idle, or at a larger distance.
