Stupid Pedal Assembly

Ok (second question)

Am I supposed to take the pedal assembly to bits to get it to fit the foot well?, the clutch lever at the top seems to stop it fitting in to the only place I assume it must go...

Any tips on this one?

cheers

RE: Stupid Pedal Assembly

I assume you have cut a slot in the top of the footwell for the clutch pedal arm, so it can actuate the master cylinder, which is bolted to the top of the footwell inside the engine bay?

when I did my dax pedal assembly, it went in without disassembly, but it was very tight and needed persuasion

RE: Stupid Pedal Assembly

Hi Steve,

no I havent cut the hole, as it says in the manual to use the assembly as a jig to cut the hole! so now you see my problem, I cant get the assembly in without cutting the hole, but dont know where to cut the hole :tu

I'll guess then

cheers

Ben

RE: Stupid Pedal Assembly

you need the mount for the master cylinder to accurately scribe the position of the slot required, and I think the master cylinder bolts to the top of the pedal assembly , so if you remove the clutch pedal, offer the assembly, mark and drill for the clutch master mount hole, and then make a slot just wide enough and long enough for the travel of the clutch pedal, you should be OK. The plate on base of the master cylinder mount is quite large, and will cover any edges visable

Re: Stupid Pedal Assembly

I've just fitted a pedal assy to my Dax, remove clutch and accelorator pedal and push box assy to rear of footwell, push it up as high as it will go, then bolt it in place with the two holes in the bottom rail.
You can then holding the clutch pedal in place mark out a slot for the master cylinder lever. Holding the mounting bracket for master cylinder on the inside of pedal box line up forward hole in this bracket with hole/lug on top of pedal box and mark out fixing holes for m/cyl braket. refit pedal and your done.
P.S. I had to put a small kink in the clutch pedal to clear where the footwell comes down. Hope this helps.

Ben you must be stuck in a time flux continuum. That can happen I've seen it on Star trek so it must be true.
