Rover Engine + various

Q1) Have been offered a Range Rover efi engine 250 sheets, 100k on clock prepared to rebuild it but is it different performance wise and bracket wise.
q2) The caliper return springs, wheres the best place to attach those to the chasis?? Manual just suggests fitting them to the chasis near the calipers??! And Im not sure as to how crucial the positioning is.
Q3)Engine lining, does that
a) Need modification if fitting rover v8 for exhausts.
b) need modification ie cut aways to butt against chassis upstands.
c) How is the best way to fit them, nails, adhesive, rivets
Yours in anticipation
Thank you
Mark

If engine bay is already lined with s/s wot engine is in now?If no engine yet, make liners to suit<but i thought DAX made chassis to customer reqiurements. So engine mounts will be set for a certain engine.

RE: Rover Engine + various

Steve,
the engine bay of the range rover isnt lined at the moment.
I have bought stainless liners from Dax for my engine bay.
I have had the chasis made by dax to accept the rover v8 lump but my original engine is a bit more than shagged so i was looking towards another engine, hence being offered the range rover motor.
I have also heard that there are problems associated with the linings provided by dax in some instances but i want to make sure that i am aware of these prior to assembling.
Measure twice cock up once!!!

That's true don't have the liners too close to the under side of the wings or you may experience stress cracking to the wings, due to body / chassis movement.
Ideally leave about 5mm clearance to be sure.

RE: Rover Engine + various

Mark, the block for the RV8 has not changed really at all except for changes in the oil pump but if the chassis was made for a RV8 then it will fit with no problems, except perhaps one which is the engine mounts but if they are different on the new engine just take the old ones off the original RV8 and fit them to the new Engine.

Good luck
