    Heater Question

    Hi guys,

Im looking at the heater situtation and I seem to recall Dave mentioning that I caould use a heater from a mini.
If i remember rightly what model should I be looking for and also does anybody have any info on the fitting of them, as far as I can see they have one of those slider bars on the front, what do I do with that?

    cheers

    RE: Heater Question

    Hi Ben.
I Mini is a Mini and the heaters are almost all the same from year dot onwards but just to be on the safe side make sure it has a metal case as i believe that the last of the line Minis had bigger plastic cased heaters.
Move the slider control so that the heater blows both up and down and leave it there.
When i was using Mini heaters i used to mount them behind the centre of the dash with the control slider pointing straight down.

    RE: Heater Question

    Hi Ben,

I don't have a Dax but this may help you to visualise the mini heater system.

For fixings there is a stud at each rear side which will probably require you to make up a couple of brackets and a horizontal plate sticking out of the front (above the controls)
Water - one in, one out on the right hand side.
Controls are simple - a slider for heat distribution and a fan switch.
Options for the slider are keep it (not the best looking), adapt for cable operation, or I think there is still an electric servo available from RS which can be used.

    RE: Heater Question

I have an early Dax which was heaterless and fitted a mark 1 spitfire heater. Its very flat and simply bolts against the engine bulkhead. A flap each side directs heat to your/your passenger's legs or close it to demist. £20 from the Spitfire Graveyard Sheffield 0114 270 0886 For an extra £8 they took it off the car and posted it to me
    Cheers
    David
