Dax fuel tank for 1991 Cobra

Can anyone recommend a supplier of a stainless steel or ally fuel tank to fit my '91 Dax Cobra ?

I can post some pictures of existing tank (which keeps blocking up fuel system !) if required. It is 57.7 cm long and 76 cm wide with rounded edges front and back, top and bottom. Sender centre is about 16 cm from front and 31cm from LHS. Fuel pickup is on RHS on top about 4 cm from front. Fuel filler is on RHS.

I have the car booked in with ShinyBitx for exhaust on 13th June, but was also considering AllyFab ( www.sales@allyfab.co.uk ).

Thanks,

Wires

I would have thought that Roger was quite capable of fabricating a new fuel tank for you.
If the original tank is just dirty and not rotten with rust you should be able to give it a good internal steam clean to remove all the crud inside that's blocking the filters.

Wires, I have recently e-mailed Allyfab enquiring if they do a tank for a DAX, as soon I get a reply I'll let you know the outcome and pricing.

Re: Dax fuel tank for 1991 Cobra

Dear Chaps,

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have the following info :

1. Roger at ShinyBitz (who is doing my complete exhaust system starting Monday 14th June) says that he can make a tank.
2. Roger reckons that it has the ExploSafe c**p in it and sometmes it breaks down and causes the sort of problems that I am seeing.
3. AllyFab will charge about £130 for making up my tank.
4. AllyFab say that the tank is a very strange size. I can post some pictures of the existing tank, if required. It is 57.7 cm long and 76 cm wide with rounded edges front and back, top and bottom. Sender centre is about 16 cm from front and 31cm from LHS. Fuel pickup is on RHS on top about 4 cm from front. Fuel filler is on RHS.

What do other people think ?

Regards,

Wires

Wires,
why are you replacing it? If the explosesafe has broken down it can be removed, I know of two people who have done it and its cured the problem, fortunatly I didnt order one with the stuff in it so I dont have the problem,
Phil

Another option is to use a stainless MGB tank I think it involves moving the filler tube though. Not a problem to weld it if it's new and never had fuel in.
