Enclosed is picture of the normal positioning for th expansion tank, not mine so I take no responsibility for the correctness of this photo!!!
Hello,
I`ve just bought a new ali header tank from Dax to replace the tank i`m using at the mo.
Wheres the normal position for mounting this in a Dax, the front cross member is too low as i need to get above the highest water point on my engine (rover V.
Dax did say it would mount on the passenger footwell, but there isnt sufficent room, the only place would be the bulkhead, even this will be a squeeze.
The tank is about 5" dia, and about 8" long, i guess this is the usual tank?
If anyones got any advise it would be helpfull,
Thanks
Cheers,
Mark
Not sure what drinks more petrol, the car or our cat!!

I have used the same location as in the picture but some modifications to move the tank even higher up.
To avoid hitting the bonnet, the tank needs to move more to the centerline of the car. I have use a steel plate attached to the footwell to increase height, and 2 long bolts+tubes to mount the tank towards the center.
If you have a filler neck and an air vent back to the expansion tank at the highest point (usually around the thermostat) you can mount the tank pretty much wherever you like, the height won't matter.
