East Anglia Region Newsletter. November.

East Anglia region 2007

November 2007

Hello all,
Last Month
Oct 21st brought us some lovely bright dry driving weather. Guy & I convoyed away from Ipswich to meet with Mark Bright at Stoke Ash. We then continued along the A140, around the Norwich Southern bypass and down to Barford where we were to find Simon Finlay’s Dax. We were also joined by a new member who had aquired a part completed Sumo recently and was keen to glean any info, hints and tips.
Arriving a little later were 2/3rds of the SAD Chapter and Peter from Long Stratton. Peter also has a Sumo that must be 99.9% finished as far as I can tell. I think he must get too much fun from driving his Locost to get on and finish the Sumo.
Most of us left the pub in the Watton direction. This is one of my favourite routes but is usually clogged with Sunday drivers but on this occasion it was a near clear run all the way with the odd slower car being despatched in the customary noisy fashion. I may have surprised a couple by the amount of noise being thrown from mt exhausts but I think they would have got the idea after another four cars blasted past.

This Month. November 18th.
Another favourite pub has returned once again to feature in the monthly meets. Hoxne Swan, Low Street, Hoxne, IP21 5AS (01379668275). This pub usually boasts a fine menu, therefore booking is highly recommended.

Workshop News
Things are progressing at a good pace in the workshop. The Aston V8 car is now on it’s wheels with the body fitted. It just requires some further chassis bracketry and the holes cut in the body work and then it can all come to pieces again for blasting & painting.
The alloy car that was seen at the Goodwood Revival is nearing completion at the panel shop. This should be back at my workshop in a few weeks.
The other alloy car is awaiting paint quotes.

Christmas Meal.
The Christmas meal has been booked for the evening of December 8th at the Chequers Inn, Bressingham, IP22 2AG (01379687405). Places are limited at the moment so please let me know ASAP. I can accept bookings with 50 % deposits (£10/head) at this Sunday’s meet or by post to me at Hill Farm, Henley Road, Akenham, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP22 2AP.
The Menu choices are:
STARTER: Soup of the day , Fanned Melon, Egg & Prawn Mayo.
MAIN: Choice of Meats from the Carvery, Vegetable Pasta Bake, Oven Baked Salmon.
DESSERT: Christmas Pudding, Chocolate Gateau, Banoffee Freeze Cake.
I will also need to inform the pub of your menu choices as soon as possible.
We enjoyed a very good night out at the Chequers last year and this year the East Anglia Lotus Club will also be there. That is if they don’t breakdown on the way. This may mean that Mark Bright will have to eat two dinners or just sit between two tables.

Hoxne Swan

Many thanks and Bye for now.

Andy.
