East Anglia Region Newsletter. April.

East Anglia region 2008

April 2008

Hello all,
Spring has almost sprung. I finally dragged my 289 from it’s hiding place and fired it up. Just as I thought the battery was going to give up, the engine roared into life. A quick check around and off up the road. It really put a smile on my face. I have not driven the car for at least three months or more. So I may be performing the annual inspection during open day.
Open Day – AS Motorsport Ltd. Poplar Farm, Fersfield Road, Bressingham. IP22 2AP Tel. 01379 688 356.
I will once again be holding an open day at the workshop. Spring open day on Sunday 27th April.
As with previous years, service and inspection facilities will be made available for free and the BBQ will be fired up and operated by Steve Brown. Ivor & I will be on hand to flip burgers and help grease those nipples. We can arrange to supply service items to order. An idea of how many people wish to use the ramps and what sort of jobs they wish to tackle would be handy. Just drop an email to me.
There has been several folk suggest a swap meet, so go out and clear your shelves of all those bits you thought might just come in handy or were bought by mistake or have been upgraded. If you keep them you may just end up building another car.
There should be a fair bit of Aston stuff to gander at as well. The V8 should still be in residence although I can’t promise rides!
I will extend the invitation to other local car clubs as well
Workshop News
The V8 Aston is coming along nicely. Engine in,exhausts, interior panelled running gear and driveline all sorted. I just need to pipe the fuel, cooling and braking systems. Then wire and trim and the job will be done. Probably not by open day though.
Stoneleigh. May 4th & 5th.
Thinking of Stoneleigh, I propose those who wish to make to journey in convoy, as we’ve done before, rendezvous at 08:30 (leaving at 09:00) at the Tesco petrol station next to the A14 in Bury St. Edmunds close to the sugar beet factory roundabout. At the moment I plan to go on the Sunday and will turn up at Tesco’s at the above time. Those who are making the journey on the Monday could group together there also.

.
Dynomometer Power runs at Stoneleigh. (repeated from last month)
There are places available for club member to rev the proverbials out of their cars at Stoneleigh show. Places are limited and confirmation / payment should be arranged ASAP. Go to Stoneleigh Dyno shoot out update - urgent response required for the relevant forum thread but you may have to log in first.
