| East Anglia Region Newsletter. June. Hi All, Newsletter Cut & pasted below. June 2008 Hello all, How quickly a month has passed. It is a pity the weather has not yet got the hint that Flaming June is now here though. It is now just a week until (one of) the greatest race on earth will kick off in France. There will be an intrepid gang of East Anglian CRC members heading out early on Wednesday morning from Dover to Boulogne (07.00) to enjoy a pleasant scenic cruise through the French countryside. Arriving at campsite Houx Annex Nord sometime late afternoon just before it rains. This part of the campsite is a bit nearer to the Bar de la Tetre Rouge so the club meet on Sunday will actually be done in random stages starting on Wednesday evening, just after it has stopped raining, and carrying on through to Monday morning. Those of you who may be interested in any details about the race can download an excellent guide from the Club Arnage forum at www.clubarnage.com/caguide/caguide2008.pdf Please note that they do ask for you to consider a charity donation in return for all of the hard work put in to producing the guide. I understand that the SAD Chapter will also be at Le Mans in mufty. Can you guys please note that we are in fact in a different campsite to the one I mentioned at the last meet. Out grandstand is still Lagache though. Those of you who feel that you cannot make it to France can seek solace together over a pint at the Cratfield Poacher with Andy Edmunds. Andy has decided that as his Euro 427 is already a decade old there is no need to hurry the car together in time for the race next week. The landlord at his local is a bit of a car fan though, so a good display of v8’s should cheer him up. He may even have Sky TV Race coverage on the go. Workshop News I had hope to report that the V8 Aston was up and running. However, I have been concentrating on some of the pretty bits instead of the engine bay due to a customer viewing. Seats, dash, grille, louvers, screen etc. all make the car look more complete. I’m not far off turning the key though. Last week was spent making up two sets of stainless manifolds for Rover powered Sumos, one under floor and one to match sidepipes. Costs of raw materials have really rocketed over the last year. Now I just have enough time to check over the 289 before we make the trip to France. The poor thing has been rather neglected of late. I am trying to convince myself that is getting a nice patina of age. I hope there are no nasty surprises lurking and an oil change and brake overhaul will suffice. (Classifieds) Just a note. Ron Rudkins (Diss) is looking to sell his Rover V8 Sumo or swap for a seven type roadster. Drop me a line and I will put you in touch. I have a Dax (standard) rolling chassis in my workshop. It is fitted with new halibrands for sale on behalf of the owner. This Month’s Meet. May 18th. Cratfield Poacher. Bell Green, Cratfield, Halesworth, Suffolk, IP19 0BL.
