| East Anglia Region Newsletter. July. Hi, Newsletter cut and pasted below. Andy the newsletter of the Cobra Replica Club East Anglia region 2008 July 2008 Hello all, The calendar rolls on. July is here and has brought the prospect of yet another ‘jolly’ through the French countryside to visit Le Mans once more. This time a slightly different group of East Anglians will venture across the channel to attend the Classic event at Le Mans. I have been beavering away in the workshop and managed to get the Aston V8 up and running for the journey. Guy has modified his Sumo in preparation for the trip. We have a V8 lueago (or however it is spelt) a track ready Monza and a Support vehicle in the form of Steve’s Vauxhall as Eileen’s Trans Am is unfortunately no more. I can now report that the journey went well except for the rain on the way down. We did seem to pass a good number of Triumphs parked at the side of the road with their bonnets raised as well as one 427 with a pair of feet emerging from under the rear end. The rain was not too much of a problem in the roofless Aston. As I reported last month. There is space for two or three keen club members to run a CRC Club stand in the hall at Peterborough Kit & Car Builder show. We have been offered this as it falls on our patch but as there has been no interest so far. It will be offered to the West Midlands lot soon. So be quick if you are interested in attending this new show with your car to promote the club. I am unable to commit as I am usually driving a combine harvester at around that time of year. Last Month. There were a few souls left on this side of the channel last month and some of them visited the Poacher at Cratfield. The official report of Andy’s progress with the Euro 427 was “he has still got a fair bit of work to do”. As well as “there are enough parts there for at least one and a half cars”. I suppose we could arrange for all of the bits to be transported to the Peterborough show and put it together over the weekend… Workshop News. As already mentioned above, the Aston V8 is up and running. The first public appearance was at Hevingham Hall Country Fair. It was nice to stand back and view the car outside of the workshop environment. There was loads of interest, with folk asking all sorts of questions. I have been looking at the local car show calendar and have booked Helmingham Hall Classic car show, Roughham classic car show, Norwich Union MSA classic run and Silverstone classic as well as the full trade stand at Goodwood Revival. The next set of Aston bodies have arrived along with some donor S-Type Jags. This Month’s Meet. May 18th. The Ship Inn, Dunwich. Details below. Great place to enjoy a pint of Adnams and some fish and chips. Book early for food to avoid disappointment. Monthly Meets. (Third Sunday 12:00ish) July 20th.
