| Re: Cam Break-in additive Real Steel 01895 440505, American Auto Parts 0208 6847737, Customville 0208 5901449 all spring to mind. It probably can't be Air Freighted as it's a Grease. Grease + Oxygen = Flamable = Hazardous

| Re: Cam Break-in additive So far as I know, this "magic additive" is just a molybdenum sulphide (sp?) grease, available off the shelf just about anywhere. Anyone else know any different?

I`m not talking about the grease for the cam lobes/lifter faces - I have that as it came with the cam kit. The additive I`m talking about is supposedly rich in zinc? Added to engine oil to replace the zinc which is removed from modern engine oils. I`m not sure it is actually needed but it is recommended by most engine builders. Whether it`s a waste of money or actually helps cam break-in I`m not sure, but I would rather "waste"a couple of quid than risk losing a lobe during cam break-in time.

| Re: Cam Break-in additive Paul - I have only ever heard of people "losing a lobe" during cam break in from folks using aggressive high lift cams in the USA, zinc additives or not. So long as you keep the revs up between 1500 and 2500 rpm for the first 20 minutes (and the problem most people have in doing this is engine overheating) you should be OK. Of course, if you use a roller lifter cam you can forget all about break in anyway. Of course, there are no "definites" in this game!
