heads

hi all
i was just looking at a picture of a TVR set of heads and the inlet / ex port seem much larger than on my sd1 heads
and the valves look bigger as well

did TVR cast different heads for it,s rover powered car or did they port them out to their own spec,

or is their some thing i don,t know ?

Re: heads

You could try asking the question on Pistonheads/gassing station/TVR/Chimaera, I think someone will know the answer.
I believe I am right in saying that TVR did a lot more to modify the RV8 than just the heads. Pity they stopped doing it.

Re: heads

You will probably get better results from a set of heads built by hand by a specialist such as JE engineering or RPI.

I guess the TVR heads are a modified casting but probably done in a massed produced fashion. Someone who knows what they are doing could do a much better job by hand.

I have a set of lovely stage 4 heads which were done by Rovercraft. They have large stainless valves, Bronze valve guides and are flowed to within an inch of their life! I got them second hand for £600 but should have cost £1500 new. They are as far as you can take the standard castings. The difference in valve sizes and exhaust ports can be seen in the pictures.

Unless the TVR heads are avalible cheaply, I would be looking at buying new / reconditioned ones for a better result.

Craig.
