Libra King ... Cortina MK 1,2or3?

HI all,

i bought myself a cute little replica. It is a Libra King from the UK.
BUT, i know it is based on a Ford Cortina (1979). But which one exactly?
MK 1,2 or 3?
engine = V6 with 109HP but she still sounds nice

Or do you guys need more info?

cheers all and thanks in advance!

Mike

A 1979 cortina would be Mk IV and that would be the most likely.

Why is the V6 only putting out 109 HP? They should be good for alot more than that, even in standard trim (assuming we're talking Cologne)

Hi Mike
Welcome & many joys with your new toy. shall have to add you to my buddy list, we are the only Libra Cob owners at this club. :thumb:

1979 Mk IV cortina produced in the UK. engine V6 / 2293cc / 108bhp.

No doubt your engine came from the Mk IV Cortina.
I am told by all the experts who look undernearth mine that its Granada based. The engine also matches Essex V6 2997cc

Can you post some pics.
Interesting to learn that Libra used both Cortina & Granada as donors.
or maybe you have Cortina engine only, the rest is Granada.
cheers Alan

MKIII, IV & V Corty all have same running gear. MKI & II have leaf springs i think.
Try www.buysellcortina.co.uk for all Corty questions (don't mention it is for a kit tho).
Cheers

Kev's spot on with that comment.
When I had my Granada based Sumo the Granada club were going to give me loads of stuff I couldn't get, but when I told them it was for my Cobra the guy put the phone down on me twice.
In the end I sourced some of the bits from a breakers 50miles away.:thumb:
