| Re: oil temp sensors Hi Joppe and welcome to the forum:thumb: On my chevy 350 I fitted an oil cooler system so I mounted the temp sensor in the line between the oil pump outlet and the oil termostat. If you do not have an oil cooler fitted then I think the only place is in the sump pan. Either replace the drain plug with a sensor or have an additional threaded boss welded on. Craig. |

| Re: oil temp sensors I believe the most accurate place is on the sump but that requires welding. I've fitted an oil cooler and fitted an in line sender next to the thermostat, though this doesn't give a very accurate reading. Regards SJ |

| Re: oil temp sensors As mentioned above the best place is the sump. You don't need to weld anything either. I just got a big nut & bolt which I had drilled and tapped then with some gasket paste and a brass washer I simply drilled a hole through the sump and did up the nut and bolt. Once it was in I fitted the sensor and left to set. Been in for 2 years and never leaked. :thumb: :thumb:

| Re: oil temp sensors Hi Joppe and welcome, I fitted my oil temp sensor in the same place as Craggle, between oil outlet and oil stat as I have an oil cooler also. Otherwise its the sump. Craggle, were did you get that nice conduit for your wiring? Looks great! :drive:

| Re: oil temp sensors Thanks for all answers. Did anyone check if the temp differ depending the alternative mountings. Thinking that the oil only passes the oil cooler when the temp is high enough in the oil thermostat. Or have the thermostat outside the engine a by pass valve? |
