"H" suffix LT77

Hi

Can anyone tell me where an LT77 with an "H" suffix originated (last digit of the serial number)? It has been rebuild with SD1 gears but wondered what the "H" suffix on the original case indicated? I had a "D" suffix box but when we got into it it need a lot of work so the egineers is offering me a recon box which he has rebuilt in this "H" suffix case. He tells me that all the internals are as the "D" suffix and apart from the filler plug being in a different place it is exactly the same. I have no reason to doubt him because this engineers has done work for me before which I was more than satisfied. Just wanted to throw it past you guys to satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks

Martin

Re: "H" suffix LT77

Hi Martin,

The "H" suffix gearbox was used in the LDV vans.
There will not be a problem using the centre casing with SD1 suffix "D" internals.

Jim

Re: "H" suffix LT77

I had a 'box from a Sherpa in my old car. It had different splines on the input shaft, and a lower first gear than the saloon version, otherwise was the same.

I bought 'em both built, so cant bask in your glory!
I'm a picky buyer, and look for a really well built car, then spend a lot of time after buying sorting out the little details that make that last bit of difference.
