Jag Front and Rear Axle springs.

Hi Guys

I need a bit of advice on how to dismantle the XJ6 front and rear axle set (both out of the car at a jag dismantlers). I am going tomorrow to pick up a complete set but have heard horror stories about the springs. Is it the front ones that I need to get cut through or back as well? This being the case should I get them to do it ( I have no gas torch ) or is it possible myself?

Thanks

Martin

Re: Jag Front and Rear Axle springs.

It's just the front ones you need to watch out for, as the rear are coil over shocks which get removed as a whole unit [so no need to cut them]
Its defiantly worth getting the picky sorry scrap yard to cut them, even if they charge you, as they are a nightmare to get off.

Just one more thing to watch out for, make sure they are giving you the right ratio diff as some yards don't bother checking

Thanks for the Rich

I rang them the other day to make sure they had what I need so I didn't waste a journey (gotta got to Brum from Lincoln....2 hours ish). I want the 3.31 standard diff and they assured me they have one. Get a log book as well.

Re: Jag Front and Rear Axle springs.

Carefully!!! As already suggested get the scrappy to burn them through with the Oxy, nearly took my head off when I cut mine with the angle grinder!

Not sure just going to follow a post code. Its stourbridge somewhere. The guy advertises on E-bay under "Wolfie's Jag parts" or something like that. If I'm not happy with what I find I'll walk away, but it seems OK.
