Rv8 Flywheel

Hi guy`s,

More rebuild woe`s. I started to clean up the flywheel ready for fitting along with a new clutch the weekend. Found lots of small cracks on the surface where the friction/clutch plate contacts it. A chap I spoke to said it had been over cooked in a previous life. Could try skimming it, but that might not be enough.

So,has anybody near to me got a standard SD1 manual flywheel kicking around collecting dust in their garage for a few squid? Or can swop!!

Re: Rv8 Flywheel

Chances are they're only surface cracks and will be OK. All the older flywheels I've seen have suffered the same fate. I'd try Russ if I were you, he's in Redditch and something of an expert on the RV8, he'll be able to tell you.

Re: Rv8 Flywheel

Bearing in mind what would happen if that Fly wheel shattered at 5,000rpm I would get a new one. What price do you put on your legs

£235 for a billet steel flywheel, balanced with the ring gear. Also lighter than standard.

This might be a cheapish option ...

Re: Rv8 Flywheel

Don't even think of trying to save money on things like flywheels - go buy a new billet steel item. Your legs will thank you for it.
