Sump capacity

Are there recommendations for minimum sump capacity for road use?
I have a modified RV8 sump that gives greater clerance, its baffled and the capacity works out at 6.5L.
I've not experienced any obvious problems with oil pressure/temperature, but, I feel that if I can increase the capacity by about 2L it may help with a +300bhp engine.
What do you think?

I don't think that adding oil capacity in the sump would make the slightest difference in terms of curing an oil overheating problem.

Think about it empirically - you have multiple kilowatts of heating going into the oil - 5 litres or 7 litres - it would only delay the inevitable.

Most increased capacity sumps are supposedly for use with high capacity/uprated oil pumps, which can pump much larger volumes of oil out of the sump, and it tends to collect in the rocker covers/camshaft valley areas. So you need more oil in the sump to stop the pump from sucking air (never a good thing).

If you don't have oil pressure or temperature problems, the following adage might apply - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
