LS1 rebuild

Anybody have any experience of rebuilding an LS1.

I've seen an engine relatively cheap with 84k miles on it (ebay). Can't afford a new one so thought this might be a good option for my one component reconditioned as new.

Are parts easy to obtain, any pitfalls to watch out for, any idea of a rough cost and what's likely to need doing ? etc. etc

many thanks

Ryan

Barely run in!!!
Parts are readily available from the States. Some Vauxhall dealers may carry parts that fit as the LSx engine was used in the Monaro

Ryan,

You're fine as long as you don't have to go down the re-bore route, the LS1's are a bit of a special beast in this area so you may struggle to find anyone you would trust to do the work over here. All the other re-con bits are readily available (mail order from the US)- it's just a posh SBC after all

Rgds

Jim
