Unhappy Rover Bell Housing

Hi
Can anyone tell me what this bell housing is from (see pics). I bought it without seeing it from Evil Bay, thinking I could keep it as a spare for my SD1 engined GD kit. Now I have it, it is nothing like my existing one and seems to be to long for a standard main shaft from the LT77 box. The guy I bought it from tells me it came from a 3.5 v8 manual box Range Rover. Have I been sold a pup??

Martin

Looks a lot like the one in my old Land Rover V8 110. Probably the same item on a Range Rover too.

They are that long to push the gearbox back further to allow the transfer box to sit in a sensible position next to it. Any shorter and the front propshaft would be very short and wouldn't cope with the suspension travel.

There probably quite a few people out there changing cheap Range Rovers with broken auto transmissions to manual boxes for Off roading. It may sell quite quickly on E-bay if your lucky.
