Oil System RV8

Hello again guys

I have spoken to Merlin (Mocal) regarding my oil cooler/pipework requirements, and they were extremely helpful (guy called Gary), but I am still a little bit uncertain of exactly what I need regarding oil pipe sizes etc. I don't understand the JIC sizes of pipes and connectors. Merlin recommend 5/8" hose but when i look at hose fittings the JIC numbers confuse me. I can't find a Goodridge connector that relates to a 5/8" hose. The JIC sizes seem to come in -8, -10, -12 etc which I don’t understand. What I want is to fit braded hoses with goodridge G236 fittings. If someone can help with hose sizes and goodridge thread sizes that will suit my RV8 I would be extremely grateful!!!
Also I am going to get a 10row oil cooler and an in line thermostat. The theory being that I may not need it with my 3.5 but in the long term I intend to up the engine size (still Rover) so I want everything in place. Does that size cooler sound reasonable?

Last question(!!). Looking at the Mocal kit, all the thermostats seem to cut in at 80 degrees. I am sure I have read on this forum somewhere that you can get them that kick in at 90. Does anyone know of this?

Thanks as always

Martin

Martin,

- "dash" sizes are sixteenths of an inch

i.e. 5/8 = 10/16 = -10

Cheers,

Simon
