Question SPS Rod Bolts?

Hi all,

I'm in the process of swapping my dented standard Rover V8 sump for a shallow trap door version.

Having got the old sump off I have noticed that the main bearings are ARP studs, and the rod bolts have SPS stamped on them.

I have done a bit of a search on t'internet for SPS and they seem to be a rod bolt for American V8s amongst other things. Does anyone have any info on these, as I dont think they are a standard Rover V8 replacement? Are they suposed to be a better than standard bolt?

Thanks

Marty

Marty,

SPS bolts are merley a high quality bolt manufacturer based in the US, the equivalent is the Unbrako standard that F1 or British Aerospace use in the UK. ARP are a company that have cottoned on to the idea that serious manufacturers want to use the best standard bolts

I could be wrong but anything that SPS used to manufacture can be found with Unbrako or similar manufacturer in the UK

They are more expensive than some manufacturers but when they stamp 8.8HTS they mean it, compared to our friends in China or other parts of Asia that stamp it becuase they can. When it comes to these sorts of things it is well worth paying the extra

Regards

Duncan

on a similar theme, i've got one bolt missing from my sump, there are two different looking bolts ( some with a recessed head and some with a flat head) , but they all have 'LL' one side and 'S' opposite. Does anyone know of a place that does these and maybe others bolts for RV8's ?
