| After yesterdays less than perfect dyno run I've set about trying to find out where my oil and water got acquainted. Prime candidate was the manifold valley seal but after tearing it down that looked good and I couldn't see any water path. So I hunted the old internet and on the Ford muscle forum I found comments about the 5807 head gaskets I have used. Many saying they dont work so well on older blocks. So I took the decision to pull a head, glad I did. There was water all over the gasket surface head side and when I took it off the block on the block side as well. In some places you can see black deposits from combustion has crept under the gasket. I cant be 100% sure if there is where it went wrong as Im not experienced enough but the gasket does not look in a good state for one dyno run. The old thing a took off initially looked healthier!! Anyway its taken 4 hours to wind the clock back 2 years on my build! Anyone got any comments? Cheers.

| Are those gaskets thin steel shim type?? If they are, they are also unrelible on Chevys. Replace them with a felpro gasket and it should be ok.

| Hi David, Yes I think they are, Im sure you are not supposed to get water all over the deck surface under the gaskets! As you say Ill be ordering a set of Fel Pro 1011-2's tommorrow! Other than that Im right chuffed with my little motor, Tim said it has a nice smooth idle and it certainly just sat there burbling along. Cheers
