Chevy 350 Compression Ratio question
I'm trying to figure-out what static CR to aim for when I replace the existing top-end on my engine. From what I've read, I should aim for a dynamic CR of max 8.2:1. This is assuming I'll be using Super Unleaded (equiv. to 93 Octane US). With my Performer RPM cam (intake timing @ 44* ABDC), that would mean a static CR of 9.1:1. However, Edelbrock's Performer RPM crate engine runs a static CR of 9.5:1 using the same cam, which would yield a dynamic CR of 8.6:1, according to this calculator:
Wallace Racing: Dynamic Compression Ratio Calculator I'm confused... can someone clarify for me? Cheers, Ian.
