Head gasket question

Will a standard head gasket accommodate a +0.030" cylinder bore, or would I need a set of matching +0.030" gaskets? Does the head gasket bore have to exactly match the cylinder bore? For example can a head gasket of 4.060" bore be used on a 4.030" cylinder?

FYI, the specific measurements above apply to a Chevy 350.

Cheers,
Ian.

My engine is plus 30 and I use standard gaskets, to be honest I did not know you could get different ones I guess if they sell them fit them if you can't find them that is cos they don't exist

Ok, that means my Victor Reinz gaskets from Real Steel will be OK in mine then! Cheers.

Yep, you can get SBC head gaskets in a variety of bore sizes. After some more Googling and forum-hopping, the general concensus seems to be that you should run a head gasket that is, if anything, slightly larger than your actual cylinder bore size. I'd go and measure the Inside Diameter of my Victor Reinz head gaskets with a vernier caliper, but they're sitting in the passenger footwell of the car (which is in my rented garage) right now.

Cheers,
Ian.
