I'd certainly try to find out what's up before running the engine again. People do say that they are a low pressure engine but both my fairly worn out 3.5 and new 4.6 both show over 30 psi at tickover. (Same pump on both engines) I think that my pump has a high pressure spring fitted. Pete

Dave,
Are you running a mechanical or electric pressure gauge? Is the engine making loud clacking noises?

If the engine has inadequate oil pressure is is usually noisy. Is the pressure sending unit in an easy place to get to? I would remove the pressure sending unit and hook the mechanical gauge up there.
