Help removing intake manifold

Got the carb and thermostat housing off and all bolts out. I was hoping the manifold would just lift off after a little gentle persuasion, but no chance. Can anyone impart any tips on removing the manifold? I notice there's quite a quantity of black RTV around the rear of the intake and this is obviously acting like glue.

Cheers,
Ian.

double check ALL the bolts are out - so very easy to miss one, and crack a manifold

distributor out
slice through any thick RTV with a stanley blade

gently but firmly pry up the manifold, using a point to lever which wont damage the mating faces when you come to reseal,

They are stuck on, but should come off with not much effort

I reckon I might be following in your footsteps shortly with my "howling banshee" problem!

I've therefore not experienced this problem yet, but how about bolting the thermostat housing back on and inserting a length of wood inside it to give you some leverage?

I have heard of people who have looped a rope under the manifold (assuming that its an air-gap type) then pulled the manifold off using an engine hoist!

..... Double-checking you've removed all the bolts first, like what Steve said!

Excellent idea! I'll try that tomorrow night.

Saw your other thread earlier... hope you get it sorted.

Cheers,
Ian.

All bolts are definitely out... I was following a diagram illustrating the correct sequence, so that ensured all bolts were attended to

Cheers,
Ian.

Not an air-gap manifold, unfortunately. Thanks anyway.

Cheers
Ian.

As Steve says, just lever it off slowly with a screw driver. Its just down with the RTV.

Distributor is out (forgot to mention that). The main problem is finding a suitable point to lever. However, Alan's idea of using the thermostat housing sounds like a plan.

Cheers,
Ian.
