| Hydro Carbon .. Emissions As you may have seen, I failed the SVA today on high hydro carbon from the near side bank of cylinders. As I understand it, this means that unburnt fuel is getting into the exhaust manifold. The reading was 3534 instead of 1200 max. So quite high then !! I am looking for any advice that you guys can give me regarding what is causing it. It is not mixture as it is only the left side. (the right is only 123) It is not the tappets as these were checked yesterday. I am hoping that you guys have some brilliant ideas before I start thinking of faulty valve(s) or valve seats etc. I nearly forgot the engine is a Cologne 2.8 V6 from a Ford. What do you think?? ![]()

| Hi Dave, Bad luck on the sva. Could it be ignition related where the fuel is not burnt? Check the plugs to see if one is a lot darker than the others and check inside the dizzy cap for tracking between a couple of the studs. Does the engine still run well? Bob

| plug gaps can effect how well the mixture burns - tight - handles high compression - limits revs - reduces effectiveness of burn wide - strains ht leads, rotor, coil - better emmisions leaky exhaust valve reduces compression - reduces effectiveness of burn - allows un burnt fuel directly into exhaust plenty of options with what's been given above as well - all the best hunting Maurice |
