RV8 Engine Number

Hi There,
I have an RV8 (Old P6 engine) in my cobra. Can anyone tell me where exactly the Engine Number is located?

Thanks

Martsam

It should be next to the base of the dip stick tube, if it is the same as mine.

Early engines are supposed to of had it stamped on the bellhousing flange at the rear of the block. This is lifted straight out of a Rimmers catalogue

Tinka,
Thanks for your reply. I thought the engine was from a RR. My problem was that I replaced the Pinto engine with this one and took the car in today for an MOT. Unfortunately the garage said I may need to get it SVA'd again before I can ge tit MOT'd as he did not know the Emissions requirements for the rover engine and therefore abandoned the MOT test. Does this sound correct?

Regards

Martsam

No - your MOT tester isn't correct.

Assuming that you declared your change of engine to the DVLA (and the V5 shows the correct RV8 ) then ther emissions levels are those set at the SVA. If they are printed on your V5 (page 1, section 3 - "Special Notes") then they apply at all MOT's. If not then the worst thing is that your car is tested to the age of the engine [4.5% CO, HC0.12] or simply a visible smoke test.

If however you haven't declared your change of engine to the DVLA, then I would suggest you do so before attempting to get an MOT.
