how to de-coke????

Hi,
Does anybody have any good recommendations for de-coking valves. Ive tried lotox and acetone and its not done much. What about diesel? or is it just a load easier to take it to a engine shop for hot tanking

Cheers

Fraz

If the valves are out the head they can be spun on a drill and then scrape and sand the carbon off.

Leaving them soaking in paint thinners overnight softens the carbon up well. No white spirit, proper dangerous 2 pack thinners or gunwash.
If they were left soaking in the acetone that might work too.

I have had success with Nitromors paint stripper before as well.

Craig.

Got back at 1am this morning. Had a few hours sleep then came to work?

Good thing I like it here.

May go home later and chill out in the pool.

Craig.

I meant the carbon not the oil.

Hey, I need my beauty sleep OK, Wide awake now anyway.

I was up at 6 yesterday morning and had to endure a train ride across Munich, and a delayed Aerlingus flight back. The spicy sausage and potato salad for dinner was good though And the big glass of local beer.

We all got on the already late plane and the Pilot (in an Irish accent) says there was some damage to one of the main tyres and they are inspecting it. 20 minutes later he said we were going to change the tye but they had pulled a nail out of it and it hasn't gone down yet so were going to give it a go!
Got us home just fine though.
