RV8 crankcase venting

Can anyone give advice on how to correctly vent crankcase pressures on a supercharged RV8?
Before fitting the s/c I vented to a catch tank only. After a thrashing quit often the dipstick was released through pressure build up in the crankcase.Clearly this situation will be much worse with the s/c fitted.
Should I vent into the s/c intake area or will this draw too much pressure from the crankcase?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Baldric

RE: RV8 crankcase venting

Barry,

I wouldn't vent into the sc intake. You don't really want all that crap going into the sc rotors do you? I would think you need better venting of the catch tank with big bore feeds from both rockers. Alternatively you could fit a (brake) vacuum pump from an old diesel (used to feed the brake servo), then you could ensure crankcase vacuum - might even reduce the losses of moving all that air up and down underneath the pistons. You get this effect for nothing if you run a dry sump system.

Thanks Russ,
I`ll try the dual vents & drill more holes in the catch tank first.

RE: RV8 crankcase venting

Barry, I made two take off's one for each rocker cover, going to a specially made ally block, too which I fitted a PCV valve which I got from Real Steel. Then into the intake with T peice via the sevo pipe under the carb. Air is then draged in at the front of the rocker covers through Morsco breather/fillers. You could still use your tank with the valve between tank & inlet manifold. As Russ say's that way you get rid of the cr#pp but not via the blower.

My car now is a little week on tick over but system seems to work okay once throttle applied Eric.

Take at look at how the drag guys do it, go to www.summitracing.com and search for part number MRG-6002 or MOR-25900 (same thing) very simple, tidy and you should be able to make your own if you like.
