G-rotor oil pump

I am in the process of installing the new type crank driven G-rotor oil pump.
On the old pump I always used vasaline and I was wondering if this trick has to be used on this new pump as well.
Any other items of importance when installing this pump ?
If I do it wrong this time, then the timing cover, dizzy, pulley and alternator have to be removed again, so a lot of extra work...

RE: G-rotor oil pump

Vaseline's a good idea, for lots of applications!

Fill the pump body under the cover with vaseline and between the gears when you place them in. This will help the pump to prime quickly on start-up.

The first few seconds of any engine start are the most important and potentially do the most damage.

I have a G rotor pump on my Serpentine engine (ex TVR Griffith) and used this method. It works fine.
