Mallory Distributer

Hi Guys,

Im about ready to fire up, just need a little help on setting up my dizzy.
When I put it in how do I know what direction to point it in?

I suppose what Im after is a procedure to follow on wiring it up.
Do I need to set piston1 to TDC before I start or something?

also where do the spark plug wires go in the cap?

thanx for any response...

RE: Mallory Distributer

Ben,

Easy peasy!

Set engine to TDC no1 firing stroke (both valve closed).

Insert distributor so that it is aesthetically pleasing and has some ammount of rotation available in both directions. Remove dist cap and see where the rotor arm is pointing - rotate distributor slightly so that points are just opening/mag pick-up is on lobe of distributor shaft - the lead hole that the rotor arm is pointing at is now No1. Insert lead for no 1 plug in this hole, then 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 into remaining holes, clockwise from top.

That should be close enough to get it to fire up - re-time with a light to 8deg BTDC as soon as you get it running.

Russ
