Suitability of Rover V8 heads with Unleaded fuel

Hi

I have just got hold of an SD1 carb fuelled Rover V8. Are the heads suitable in their original state to be used with unleaded petrol?

Excellent!

Cheers Steve. At least thats one job less to do.

I presume valve seat cutting or lapping of valves doesnt change your answer does it?

Pretty sure seats are not just surface hardened so re-lapping should'nt hurt.
Russell will confirm for sure when he's on-line.

Yes Steve, absolutely agree. All SD1 heads are unleaded compatable. Re-cutting or lapping seats has no effect on un-leaded capability. Make sure you don't re-cut the seats to deep or you'll hood the valve initial opening reducing flow at small valve openings.
