Vacume Advance - ON or OFF ?

Hi all - again!

have notice that the engine doesnt have the vacume advance connected, because the alternator has had to be mounted up high & gets in the way of the actuator, so it's been removed!

now I know that all this will do is give me less advance as the revs rise / engine load is increased .. but is it going to loose me that much ? i.e. is it worth me trying to get it working again ? (Not sure how - because of physical restraints ..)

what does everyone think?

Steve

RE: Vacume Advance - ON or OFF ?

I ran twin 40's on my Tiger, (Pinto engine), without the vacuum connected. This is the "norn" with these carbs. The only draw back as far as I know is a reduction in fuel economy.

RE: Vacume Advance - ON or OFF ?

thanks Dave . Its been running fine , and all that will happen is the ignition will not be advanced as it could be - thus loosing me power, but I'm wondering how much!???
at-least it wont be too far advanced, giving me knock problems!

RE: Vacume Advance - ON or OFF ?

Quite a few of the lads have had there cars set up on a rolling road, proper job mind, carbs jetted etc. There's never been a mention of loss of power because the vacuume isn't connected.
