Rover / Chevy Rocker cover conversion

Hi All

In my quest for getting hold of a pair of new chrome rocker covers for my RV8, at a sensible price, I came across a solution that looks quite good.

I have been quoted for a pair of plates that convert the heads to take SBC covers and as a result it looks like I can pick up a pair of Chevy covers for about £40 -£50 brand new. Complete with a chrome breather filler cap on one of the covers and a pcv valve for connecting to the front of the Weber 500 on the other cover.

Does anyone out there have expererience with such a conversion, if so have you had any problems,

Regards
Dave

RE: Rover / Chevy Rocker cover conversion

Hi Dave, I believe this is quite a common mod but normally for the Ford Black Cobra ones and as far as I know there are no problems doing this.

RE: Rover / Chevy Rocker cover conversion

Dave,

both me and Steve-G run the Rover to Ford conversion (both 'home' machined versions). No problems at all, seal adaptor to std head with silicon sealant and run std Ford rocker gasket. If you want to run roller rockers you need this conversion 'cause the std rocker covers are very, very tight.

Thanks both for your replies, it looks like a conversion is on the cards, I will stick with the chevy option for now as it keeps my costs down.

RE: Rover / Chevy Rocker cover conversion

HI All
Having only joined today, I have read your messages with interest, as have searched in vain for good looking covers for my V8 rover.I have considered plain chrome and missed a pair on EBAY, but I also found out about magnum conversion rover/chevy kits last week and am going this route. However I would appreciate greatly any tips on where to purchase 'tasty' chevy covers particularly with logo. Thanks in anticipation.

RE: Rover / Chevy Rocker cover conversion

Paul,

you can also do Rover to Ford conversion, which means you can use the 'real' small block Ford Cobra covers. See my car at the weekend.
