oil temp sender

This is a bit of a noddy question but where should I fit the oil temp sender on my RV8. I assume that it goes into one of the ports on the oil pump but there seem to be three. I have used the most accessible for my oil pressure and oil light.

RE: oil temp sender

Rob and Kev have just had this discussion (albeit on a Chebby engine). THE best place for an oil temp sender is in the sump. Most factory performance engines use their efi computer to 'derate' performance temporarily based on BULK oil temp (ie sump), not after it has just been squeezed full of temp by the oil pump or cooled through a cooler. Typical 'safe' bulk oil temp before decent oil starts to degrade significantly is about 125deg C.
