Can I get rid of surplus engine wiring ? Help !

I'm fitting a Mallory Unilite and Hyfire V1A ignition system to my RV8, after succombing to the intermittent cutting out problem with the original De8 Opus.
My question is, can I junk the wiring that went to the diagnostic socket, and the sensor near the crank pulley now that I'm replacing the old distributor ?
I'm conscious of having surplus wiring in the engine bay, that may only increase the chances of a fault. Can anyone help ?
The Hyfire takes it's power direct from the battery, goes straight to the coil and the dissy, , and gets it's trigger from the ign switch. The wiring to the socket and crank pulley pick-up would appear to be surplus ?
I'm not great at electrics, and would really appreciate the advice
Thanks
Steve

Hi,

Assuming your new setup doesn't require the sensor, remove it, junk it or keep it in the back of the garage just in case. I've removed mine and engine runs a treat. ATB
