1" carb spacer for Weber

To aid hot starting issues I purchased a 1" carb spacer from Real Steel for my Weber 500/Edelbrock manifold (for an AK kit).

Problems are :

1. The studs are hardly long enough to fit the nut onto the end ! Real Steel claim that they are the longest ones that they do !

2. As per the photo, I need to mount my throttle cable bracket on the end of the stud !! As the studs are hardly long enough to fit a nut on, I am buggered !

3. With the long cobra aircleaner on top, the bonnet closes (just) but the aircleaner is pressed right up against it (I trust this is not good !).

Suggestions ? I am sure I have read of other people who have done this with a Rover/AK...

Thanks

Marcus

Re: 1" carb spacer for Weber

Hi Marcus.

1 + 2 are easily sorted by making longer studs from either studding or cut down set screws of the appropriate thead :thumb: The air cleaner issue could be remedied by lowering the bottom plate on the carb! I believe the recognised method is to stand on the top of the filter, and jump up and down a bit

Re: 1" carb spacer for Weber

the air cleaner riser you have may be available in a smaller size to drop your cleaner height
ditto to the bolt issue,a local fastener specialist will sort you out there

Re: 1" carb spacer for Weber

or if your confident enough, cut down the riser and square it off with a bit of filing and patience
