What Needles for a Rover V8 3.5 P6 Engine?

Hiya

Im trying to find out what needles I should be using in my V8 Engine.

Its a Rover P6 3.5 V8 non electronic ignition with standard SU carbs.

Mods are:
Performance Full Stainless exhaust System
K&N cone air filters

Otherwise its all pretty standard.

It runs fine from tickover to about 2,000 rpm but after that it
pulls through but wooly! Its not smooth & not as pokey as it should be. The problem lies somewhere in the air/fuel mixture I think?

Can anyone reccomend what needles I should be using?

Many thanks

Sweatyfox

Have you set up the carbs as per the manual?

Re: What Needles for a Rover V8 3.5 P6 Engine?

I dont know what needles are used as std but unless you have changed them they are likely to correct and if as you say you have set up the carbs perhaps the prob is elsewhere. Its interesting that it pulls well to 2000rpm as this is about where the mech advance comes in. It would be worth checking that the weights are working correctly as well as the vac advance. out of interest what have you set the static timing to.

Maybe a bit lean -I used to run BAF's in my SU's before I went to a webber. I'm sure you can come by some very cheaply to try
