Classic 06 Travel Arrangements

Having spoken to a number of people travelling to the classic next year it seems we basically have two routes operating.
1. Newhaven - Dieppe, overnight boat on the weds evening, leaves at 11pm, will get us to Le Mans about mid morning Thurs.
2. Dover/Folkestone via Calais/Boulogne leaving early Thursday morning arriving Le Mans thurs pm sometime.
If enough people are considering the above options I can speak to the ferry/Tunnel operators and see if they will offer a discount etc, ie we give them an indication of numbers and they give us a ref number to quote when booking so individual parties can book their tickets direct but with the bonus of a discount.
I am more than happy to speak to the various companies etc but I will need an indication of numbers if you are considering either of the above options.
Thats if you havnt booked already!!!!!!!

So far we have 3 cars on the newhaven route and 2 on the folk/dover route. That we know about.

At the moment the only confirmed cost I have is Speed ferries from Dover @ £54.00 return, going out Thurs and returning Mon.

So is anyone interested ???

Re: Classic 06 Travel Arrangements

Andy, we have, provisonally, 10 cars from East Anglia for the Dover - Boulogne / Calais route.
I've just started thinking about ferries so your research would be appreciated.

We used Speedferries for the 2005 24 Hours at £50 return but the number of sailings is limited (see the latest Snake Torque for our report).

Re: Classic 06 Travel Arrangements

Steve the £54.00 quote above was obtained tonight from Speedferries website, out on the 07.45 Thurs and return on the 14.00 Mon.
If you guys can hang on a week I will see what response we get for the various routes then speak to the operators and see if we can save a few pennies, for the beer fund of course, so its worth a try.

You tight buggers, looking for a discount on £54, you want to live at this end of the country, Plymouth-Roscoff £318 return, fortuanatly I have negotiated a discount, but it still works out to £250 :thumb: :thumb:
