East Anglia Region - Newsletter November 2005

Hi all,

As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, October’s meet was a double event. Andy Soar again very kindly opened the doors of his workshop facilities for those wishing to grease their nipples and adjust their big ends. The following day was our usual meet at Pin Mill. We’ve currently got scaffolding all around the house so the driveway and access to our garage is limited. Hence, we were unable to ‘come out to play’. Never the less we’ve enjoyed a rather mild October and you’ve taken every opportunity to take in some top down motoring.
Talking of ‘top down’, over the last 2 or 3 weeks, all the old tiles have been removed from our house roof which has been recovered with roofing paper in readiness for the new tiles.
Now the weather has turned cold and wet, we’re $&*%£ freezing. It’s just as well we have a log burning stove.

Inevitably, Steve has his mind on plumbing, wiring and carpentry, so other things have slipped a little. However, he’s still going to arrange 2006’s runs to Le Mans (for both the 24 Hour race and the Classic) so if anyone fancies a trip across the channel, let us know.

Following my ‘formal’ note last month relinquishing my role as Regional Rep from the end of the year, Andy Soar has very kindly stepped forward to offer his services as your Rep. I’m sure you will give him the support that you have provided me.

…..and so, to this month’s meet on Sunday 20th November. I suggest a meet in Long Stratton on the A140, between Norwich and Diss, by the Lotus dealership / garage on the main road at 11:00, followed by a run to the Gamekeeper in Old Buckenham for 12:00 on the B1077 towards Attleborough. As detailed on their website http://www.thegamekeeperfreehouse.com/ , The Gamekeeper is …… “located on East Anglia's largest village green, this 17th Century Grade II listed Freehouse offers a unique drinking and dining experience in a beautiful village setting. There is an excellent selection of Real Ales & Fine Wines which can be enjoyed seated in front of our open log fire in the colder months or spent relaxing in the delightful garden during Spring & Summer. The Gamekeeper is also Cask Marque Accredited and is to be found in the 2005 edition of CAMRA'S GOOD BEER GUIDE”.

Here’s the list of East Anglian meets for 2005.
December 18th – West Suffolk – meet in Hadleigh, run to the Crown, Ardleigh.
Plus local (and no so local) car events for 2005
Nov 19th to 20th – Great Western Kit Car Show, Exeter, Devon

Thanks to all you cobrateers, keep calling, and mailing.
Bye for now, Eileen
