Santa Pod

Went to Santa Pod this last week end and I had a lot of fun on the real drasgtrip. I met another Cobra owner who refused to make a 400 m (quarter mile) run against my Cobra. He did not want to register for the track (RWYB) event. It is sad because I think that people would have enjoyed to see two Cobra on the starting line. He told me that he was not a member of the UK Cobra Club.
Many people prefer to dream of the performance of their car than really cheking what they can do with it.

Re: Santa Pod

Hello Queeniee, out of curiosity what times are you posting for the 1/4mile/400m??

How many miles/km's are you doing in an average year??

Cheers,:thumb: :thumb:

Re: Santa Pod

Perhaps he was frightened off by your blatant use of the metric measurement system!

12.5 s with my normal road tyres and a smooth start. I think that I could have improved it by almost one second since my 0-60ft time was 2.5 sec, which is too much (I should make 1.6 sec at the 0-60 ft). But I was a bit careful and conservative since I needed my car to go back to France on the road and also because this coming week end I will race for the 4th event of the French Dragster trophy (you understand that I had no time to break nor to repair ).
And I did not used my DOT at Santa Pod nor slicks.

Since May 2005, I did 14 000 km (almost 9000 miles) and my average, since I had this Cobra (9 years) is 7000 miles per year.

Hi Queeniee,

What was your terminal speed and spec/power of your engine?

Re: Santa Pod

I am no expert but your terminal speed suggests you could lower your ET's by quite a lot:thumb: . I am sure traction is your biggest problem, especially with that engine!!

Great to see someone giving their Cobre some real stick!

Cheers,

Cheers,
I agree 100% with you, it is sure that the HP are not efficiently used in the back. This winter, I shall have weight (removable) installed in the trunk. All other suggestions are welcome.

Re: Santa Pod

I'm a little surprised by your time

I was expecting a quicker time (shows how much I know) because I got 12.1secs in my standard UK turbo Impreza.

Before anybody starts. Yes I know its not a like for like comparison
