Cobra Club National Event 2007 Silverstone Classic

Please make sure the dates for the 2007 Silverstone Classic of 27/28/29 July are firmly in your diary.

OK guys as mentioned the other day the Silverstone Classic is going to be the Cobra Club National day this year. This magical three-day event celebrates eight decades of motor sport showcasing many of the golden eras of Grand Prix, GT, touring car and bike racing. More than 600 of the world’s most evocative competition cars – many raced by past stars such as Stirling Moss OBE – provide the very best of on-track nostalgia. Last year’s event witnessed a staggering line-up of 22 races featuring more than 800 competitors creating what was widely heralded as the world’s largest paddock.
In addition, the entire infield is always packed with a glittering array of car and motorcycle club displays showcasing more than a 1000 classic creations from many of the world’s most idolised motoring marques. Providing further delight are spectacular air displays, a period fun fair, a busy trade mall plus live music and barbecues in the famous Scarf & Goggles entertainment area. Indeed the list of activities is almost endless with plenty to keep the whole family amused both on and off the Historic Grand Prix circuit.
I attended all 3 days last year and between watching some good racing, looking at loads of classic old cars and as always talking to loads of fellow Cobra owners still barely had time to fit everything in. In fact not enough time was the only complaint I had from people who only went for one day last year. There are not many events where you can actually walk along the pit lane and actually in the garages as they work on the cars.

Martin, this looks like a great event. thank you for making the arrangements

I have visited the silverstone site, and there are some capmsites listed, do you know if it is possible/permitted to camp on site , (ala le mans) or do we need to speak to one of the campsites for a "group discount" there also

Tried to book onlline and over the phone, Silverstone are not taking bookings till next week.

Steve

Re: Cobra Club National Event 2007 Silverstone Classic

Last year due to security arrangements they did not allow any one to camp on the site and I guess it will be the same this year too, but there is camping available just over the road I think the details are on the site but I will look up the information I had last year and post it up.

Re: Cobra Club National Event 2007 Silverstone Classic

I'm into this, it sounds like Goodwood with actual racing.

Does anyone know if there is a program of races/cars available yet? I'll only come one day with my father and he really really wants to see the Porche 917's race so would come that day.

I should have the cob on the road by then too

Cheers :thumb:
