KOE 2007

I went from Paris to Poland last week-end for the King of Europe drag event. I really enjoyed driving in Germany where I did not looked at my speedometer but only watched the traffic and the road, driving at the speed I wanted... In Poland, only the highway was in good condition, other roads were sometimes really bad and there it was necessary to drive the Cobra at low speed.
I had a mechanical problem during the qualifying runs (my clutch showed some weakeness) but I did qualified for the race. But since I know I had 1000 miles to drive to go back home, I made a conservative decision: I did not went on the starting line against my opponent for the 1/16 final. Very sad after so many miles to get there.
I came back home without problem, leaving Kamien Slasky in Poland at 18 PM on Sunday and arriving in Paris on Monday afternoon. The numerous refueling I had to do lowered my average speed very much.

Well, that's a relief then.

Has the old one given up? How many passes did you have on it?

I had it since one year and a half and I made approximately 10 000 miles with it. I used it also for a dozen of drag races which corresponds roughly to 80 runs .
It is not completely burned and I think I shall be able to use it again in Switzerland at the end of July.

I think it has done very well considering the mileage and hard starts in it's short life!

Thanks for making me feel better. I could buy a tougher clutch more drag oriented but my car would become very difficult to use in the streets or around Paris.

What about one of the clutches that grips harder with rpms? Can't recall the brand name just now but essentially it uses centrifugal force to increase clamping pressure. At low rpms (like in traffic) it is easy to release. I guess your drag racing friends could say if they are a good idea or not?

If you find the brand, please send me a P.M. about it. It sounds interesting.
I must say that in Poland, I released the clutch at 3000 rpm, a bit more than usual...
