Wheelsday 2008, Friday 21 March

In a moment of weakness I seemed to have been volunteered into organizing this by AndyS!!

I have talked to the organizers a little while ago and they are very keen for us to attend their show this year as they have never had a big Cobra presence before. Anyone who has been before will know what a great event it is and very refreshing to see cars other than Cobra's, most of which would put most Cobra's to shame in their presentation, really don't know how they drive them there without a spec of dust on them

The event is held at Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot

Rushmoor Arena

Unfortunately the organizers, Surrey Street Rodders, cannot allocate pitches due to the shear numbers of vehicles turning up (over 2500 last year) and advise that we meet up outside the arena and then proceed in convoy where we will then all be placed together in the arena upon arrival, there is no issue with erecting Club banners etc. They have recommended the local Tesco's superstore car park as a meeting point but I will leave it to someone who lives more local to advise on this. In addition many people entered the event by the "back door" entrance last year and avoided the massive queues which develop later in the morning. Again I am open to recommendations, the event opens to the public at 10am, and I would guess if we turned up before this we would avoid the huge queues later in the morning? A word of warning....people turning up mid to late morning were being turned away from the area last year, it fills up quickly!

I guess it would be a good idea to get a rough idea of who is interested in attending and supply this number to the organizers, it would be nice to outdo the Corvette's who seemed to have got prime position last year If I know who will be attending I can then ensure that we are all together before proceeding into the arena.

Please let me know your thoughts as this is the first time for me organizing an event, and I hope to make a good fist of it.

More event info can be found here

Wheelsday 2008

Let's hope the weather is as good as last year where T-shirts were the order of the day

Good work Noel!

I've been twice before and loved it both times!

I'll be there, I only live about 3 miles away too

See you on the 21st
G.

Hi Noel, seeing as i probably live the closest at just under a mile may i suggest everyone meet at the Wellington monument as there is a large car park & you dont have to use any main roads from there to get into the arena.

The Wellington monument is located on Claycart Road off Bourley Road.

Cheers Tony.
