My father in law went yesterday Steve, and according to him you/I didn't miss much because there was nothing happening or no one turned up.

A waste of entrance fee I got told.

Nice & sunny -about 30 cobras; way outnumbered by the biggest collection of 'Trevors' I'd seen.
Best bit was playing on AK's laptop trying to pilot a helicopter

Yes, I went today. The weather was sunny and fairly warm but very windy. The roads to the show (A1 etc) were very quiet. It was a good show, but there were lots of gaps on the car areas - some clubs had no-one at all. There were about 30 cobras at the peak today (Sunday), and the trek home seemed to start about 2pm. I was told there were only three cobras on Saturday when it rained all day.
Chatted to a few other owners and a Manchester bloke (Terry) in mid build.
Displays by manufacturers in the main building were good and there was a fair selection of the nuts, bolts, chrome and oil stands outside (suffering with the strong winds). Entertaining to watch Miss Newark Show(?) getting photographed, draped on cars.
This was my first trip to Newark, nothing like as big a Stoneleigh, but I'm glad I went and I'd go again.

We went yesterday ( Saturday) in the Cobra support vehicle, blagged our way into the showground and were very surprised that there were only three Cobras in the offiocial parking area, a prime postion just across from the show hall.

In a bid raise the very damp spirits of the Cobra stalwarts we all got out of the rain and had a few tinnies " al fresco picnic style" sitting in the support vehicle which was enjoyable. Having an early evening appointment with a curry meant that we had to leave at about 5.00 and as we left the show looked very empty, forlorn and extremely wet.

The show itself was very poorly attended on the Saturday and with many fewer trade stands. In fact it is a shadow of its former self and I would be surprised if it survives for many more years looking at yesterdays turnout.

Cheers,

Tony

Couldn't make it as I am currently having a "week off" in a Norfolk holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere. Least it has broadband. Wife booked it, hence the lack of concern about clashing with any "Cobra dates" in my diary......

Robin,

Many thanks I will send the photos onto Tim so he can include them in his gallery of potential stalking victims.

Sisters..........I think one of those in black was her mother !! ( They obviously like 'em a bit rough in Newark)

Further to the comment on the slightly blurred image it looks like you had a touch of camera shake........It makes for a much steadier picture if you hold the camera with both hands, of course that would mean you would have to take your hand from your trouser pocket....

Cheers,

Tony
